For Al Unser Jr 60th Birthday April 19th 2022 we started by surprising AL for Valentines Day with his 4 closest women. His Mother Wanda, 2 daughters Cody and Shannon, and his wife Norma. 2 1/2 hours of Love/Memories w/ AL.
The 40+ other interviews were conducted with following bullet pointed list, of people telling legendary racing moments and great life details behind the scenes with AL Unser Sr, Bobby Unser, and Al Unser Jr. |

I contacted the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum and explained the project, and asked if Norma and I could shoot the opening video next to AL Sr's IndyCar. They said yes.

I asked Norma to stand on a tall chair next to AL Jr's 2nd Indy500 Win photo high on the wall in the museum.

Norma points out Al Jr on Borg Warner Indy 500 Trophy. I am on the right and conducted all the interviews.

Norma Unser is the wife of Al Unser Jr. and a has been a political fundraiser. She has worked with Governor Holcomb, and a lobbyist, and Director of Wings and Wheels Foundation. She speaks about meeting AL through the foundation, them falling in love, funny moments and their future together.

Liz Childers is Norma's twin sister and she tells stories of growing up and looking out for Norma. She tells the details of how she got to know AL jr and welcome him into their family. She is very glad they found each other, and says many great things about Al Jr.

Globally know Rock & Roll Star: Huey Lewis gives his birthday message and wishes to AL Unser Jr. Al Jr used to show up at Huey's concerts in his racing coach bus and Al would come on stage playing the cowbell and other musical contributions. They were many experiences on and off stage.

Johnny Unser tells a lot of great behind the scenes with the Unser Family moments. Johnny was at a race car test and his reception was a bit fuzzy for his computer camera, but a great overall recollection of awesome Unser memories.

Doug Boles- President of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (<link for IMS tickets) Doug covers the Unser's careers. "The Unser's are the "First Family" of the Speedway. (There's a slight eco at beginning few seconds, but it clears up)

Michael Andretti, is the owner of Andretti Autosport race team, and is a Racing Legend, and one of the biggest rivals/friends to Al Unser Jr throughout his racing career. Michael tells some great behind the scenes and memories of the Unser's on and off the track.

Sarah Fisher is a retired IndyCar driver and married to Andy O'gara- They Co-Own SFH Racing Development and Sarah helps with Wings and Wheels Foundation. They also own 3 indoor Karting facilities, and there is one next to the track on Main St. Speedway Indoor Karting.

INDY 500 LEGENDS- Eddie Cheever: Speaks of AL Unser, Sr Bobby, Unser, AL Jr great racing moments, and the moment when he was hit by Stan Fox, which was one of the more horrific wrecks in Indy 500 history.

John Dickerson is Pastor for Connection Pointe Church in Brownsburg. Baptized Al Unser Jr. and Introduced him to Mark & Alora McCallister the owners of Wings & Wheels Foundation. Dale Dillion commercial builder: Built Green Racing Facility, Ganassi Racing Facility, Dallara INDYCAR Factory in Speedway. Raced Jet Skis with the Unsers and had many great on and off track memories with AL Sr, and young AL Jr. and other great moments.

Wanda is now married to Mike Devin and is Al Unser Jr's mother. She was married to Al Sr. and had AL Jr and his two sisters. She speaks of meeting Al Sr. in high school, the proposal, his first races. Also, of Al jr and his sisters growing up. Al getting into racing and his first championships, travels to Disney world and alligators, his likes, racing INDYCAR, Winning Indy 500, his kids and more.

Cody Unser Al Jr's oldest daughter and her mother Shelly, who passed a few years ago founded the First Step Foundation to educate people about paralysis and help the medical educators learn more about how to diagnose unique cases.

Andy Gilbert met Al Jr in 1983 and became fast friends. Andy started driving Al Jr's motor coach bus for races nationwide. Andy also worked for Barnes Management gaining sponsors for teams, and ran onsite sponsor activations at races. Andy tells stories of racing all the Unser's on snowmobiles and putting Bobby Unser into a snow bank when he was trying to pass, and AL Sr side by side tripping his stop engine switch and everyone passing him. Andy also speaks about a great starting line experience with president GHW Bush and AL Jr.

Jade Gurss is a race industry writer for over 30 years and a NY Times Best Selling Author and co-wrote "Checkered Past" with AL Unser Jr. and "The Beast" which featured Al Jr, and Driver #8 about Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Willy T Ribbs Jr. was the 1st African American to race Indy 500 '91, '93, test Formula 1- 1986. Born 1-3-1955 Willy raced Trans-Am Series, IndyCar, Champ Car, IMSA, and the NASCAR Cup Series and Gander Outdoors Truck Series.

Doug Kissinger has been a transport driver for Al Jr and INDYCAR Penske Racing for almost 30 years: Great friend with AL Jr and the family many great on the road stories.

Karen Broetzman Valiquett is a civil engineer & personal friend of Norma and AL Jr. She speaks about their relationship and spiritual beliefs together, and is truly happy they found each other.

Tony Parella is the owner of Sportscar Vintage Racing Association, SVRA.com. He has involved the Unser's in many of his racing events over the years. Al Sr helped Tony gain his hearing back, a great side story. Tony honored Al Sr and spoke at his funeral, and also speaks about AL Jr's career and his wife Norma.

84 yrs young Charlie Patterson raced with Al Sr, Bobby Unser, and has seen Al Jr race since he was 12. He built drive shafts for 80% of NASCAR for 10 yrs. Built Gasoline Alley Rd which housed 8 buildings for race team mechanic shops in Indy. He's helped 100s of drivers

Troy Ruttman's daughter Toddy featured above, Troy was youngest to win Indy 500 1952, was inducted into many Hall of Fame's IMS-Motorsports-SprintCar-Midget and drove F1 as well. Ruttmans and Unsers grew up in motorsports together. Talks about Wanda AL Jr Mom and Norma and New Mexico with Unsers

Levi Jones is the current Director IndyLights Racing Series and won his 1st Sprint Car Championship with 2B Racing, then 4 additional Championships with Tony Stewart Racing and 2 Silver Crowns Championships. Jones was also the Executive Vice President of USAC. The next picture was with AL Unser Senior at the Indy 500, and he speaks of stories AL Sr told him and how AL Jr. was an inspiration to him in his racing career.
